Sacred Ground Church began with a shared calling: to create a Christian community rooted in the teachings of Jesus, grounded in love for creation, and open to all.

Rev. Mark David Albertson and Rev. Kaia Meuir bring together years of ministry, life experience, and a deep love for the land to cultivate this new expression of church at Sacred Ground Church.

Rev. Mark David Albertson

Pastor Mark is a pastor, teacher, and writer with a passion for helping people rediscover an authentic, compassionate faith rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus. For years, he has served in congregational ministry, led Bible studies, and created spiritual resources that engage both heart and mind.

Mark’s ministry is shaped by a progressive theological lens that takes Scripture seriously while making room for honest questions, intellectual curiosity, and lived experience. He believes faith is meant to be embodied — expressed through love of neighbor, care for creation, and commitment to justice.

As an author and speaker, Mark has explored themes of discipleship, grace, and spiritual growth, always with a desire to make faith accessible and meaningful in everyday life. Sacred Ground Church represents a natural evolution of his calling: a space where worship happens outdoors, community is authentic, and the sacred is encountered in soil, silence, and shared bread.

At Sacred Ground Church, Mark hopes to cultivate a church where people can breathe deeply, reconnect with God, and follow Jesus in ways that are courageous, compassionate, and grounded in love.

Rev. Kaia Meuir

Pastor Kaia brings to Sacred Ground Church a deep love for the land, a nurturing spirit, and a heart for community. Her connection to the rhythms of nature and farm life reflects the very essence of Sacred Ground’s vision — faith rooted in creation and lived out with care. She is a certified Stephen Minister with a wide range of experience helping people following challenging events in their lives. She is a published author of wonderful young adult fantasy books (Look for K.E. Meuir) and is a retired public school teacher.

Kaia’s gifts are expressed not only in hospitality and community-building, but also in her steady presence and attentiveness to the needs of others. She understands that spiritual growth often happens in quiet moments — over shared meals, tending her chickens and bees, or simply walking the land together.

Her commitment to compassion and practical care embodies Sacred Ground Church’s call to love neighbor and steward the earth. Whether welcoming guests to Crescent Moon Farm, supporting ministries of service, or cultivating spaces of belonging, Kaia helps shape Sacred Ground into a place of warmth, grace, and grounded faith.

Together, Pastors Mark and Kaia envision Sacred Ground Church as a living, breathing community where faith grows naturally — like seeds planted in good soil.

Our Story

Sacred Ground Church began as a quiet question:
What if church could feel more like walking through a forest than sitting in a pew?

For years, we both sensed a longing — for a faith that felt spacious, embodied, and deeply connected to the world God created. We loved the church. We loved Jesus. And yet, we kept noticing how often people felt weary, wounded, or disconnected from the sacred in traditional spaces.

At the same time, we experienced something profound outdoors. In silence among trees. In tending land. In watching seasons shift. Creation wasn’t just beautiful — it felt like a living reminder that God’s presence is not confined to buildings or schedules.

When the opportunity arose to move to Port Angeles and begin life at Crescent Moon Farm, the question grew louder:
What if church could happen here?

What if worship unfolded under open sky?
What if Scripture was read alongside birdsong?
What if community formed around shared soil, shared meals, and shared hope?

Sacred Ground Church was born from that invitation.

We didn’t set out to start something trendy or novel. We simply wanted to create space — space to breathe, to listen, to ask honest questions, to follow Jesus with courage and compassion, and to care for the earth as sacred trust.

Sacred Ground is rooted in the teachings of Christ, shaped by progressive theology, and committed to radical welcome. It is a place for those who love Jesus but long for something gentler. For those who feel closest to God in creation. For those who believe faith should lead to justice, mercy, and care for the vulnerable.

We believe the ground beneath our feet is already holy.

We’re simply learning to notice it, participate in it, and become a part of it — together.
